What’s On Your Cycling Christmas Wish List?

It’s that time of year again where each of us gets asked by our significant other what we want for Christmas. In our family each of us writes down our needs, wants, and wishes in that order. It helps put into perspective what you think you need. You should try it. If you have kids like I do, you may be surprised at some of the answers.

So, I had to tell my wife what I wanted for Christmas. I always tell her not to spend a dime on me but it never does any good. If she’s going to get me something I might as well give her an idea instead of tempting luck (and I don’t have much of the good kind).

Most of you who read my blog know I need a new bike, and my wife knows I do too, but that’s not something she can go out and get because of the test-riding and fitting that goes into it (not to mention the fact that she’s in Florida and I’m in Texas). Same goes for stuff like a helmet and a trainer. I’ll get those when I’m ready.

What I did decide on was a couple of simple things like socks, CO2 cartridges, and a magazine subscription. When I give her my list I always make a Word document that contains a pic of what I want along with a link to the exact item on the Internet. That way she doesn’t have to worry about stuff like sizes or thread/unthreaded CO2. Simplicity is key.

So, what cycling related items did you put on your Christmas wish list this year?

I noticed the cyclocross bike you want is a Windsor. What have you heard about Windsor bikes in general? Reviews on their road bikes are hard to come by and Bikes Direct has some great deals.
  • I picked it because it was the cheapest that had a 10 speed shimano group. Since I don't do cross I wanted a very entry level bike that I could use for it and perhaps be a good commuter/rainy day bike. Truth be told I don't expect getting it for Christmas or any time soon.

FYI I subscribed to follow up comments and confirmed my email with disqus but didn't get an email about your comment.

Ok, I believe the subscribe to comments function is working but it won't work for any replies until after you've confirmed your email with Disqus. Because of that, you may actually miss out on a reply before you start getting them. At least that's how my test worked out this morning. If I'm right, I would think you should get notifications on this reply and on my reply saying I'll look into it. I've been wrong before though.

Also, I found a setting that automatically closed comments after 1 day and re-adjusted it to 90 days so some of you may have come to the post and not been able to post comments.

If anyone else is having problems please let me know and thanks for bearing with me while I try to make the user experience a little better (I think).

Thanks for the heads up about follow up comments. I just installed DISQUS comments yesterday so I may not have something setup right. I'll look into it.
