As I eluded to in my post yesterday, I needed to get a new bicycle headlight so I headed to the local Bicycles, Etc to see what they had in stock. The selection wasn’t great but I did find a Cateye HL-EL450 that would fit my handlbars and give me some light out front.
Cateye HL-EL450 Headlight Specifications
- 400+ Candlepower
- Three modes: Hi/Low/Flashing
- Water resistant to 50 meters
- 360 degree ring to allow side visibility
- Rotatable up to 90 degrees left or right
- Available in Silver or Black
- Includes 3 AAA batteries
Though the HL-EL450 is water resistant up to 50 meters, Cateye makes a point to say the headlight isn’t intended for diving. While I didn’t plan on taking it on my next Jacques Cousteau undersea adventure it is nice to know it should survive these Florida rainstorms if I get caught out in the rain.
Below you can see some additional pictures. In picture one note the red switch lock that has to be depressed to turn the light on or off and in picture three you can get a good view of the 360 degree ring for side visibility.
After I’ve used it a few times I’ll post more detailed review covering use and impressions.
