Drunk driver plows into bicycle race…1 killed
This is almost unreal. I ran across this story over on FOX News where they had the picture of the drunk driver hitting the cyclists at the moment of impact. It’s a miracle only one person was killed.

Bryan,
While on bicycling.com last night I noticed this. We’ve all seen some crashes in the big races, but these riders were much like you and I.
I am amazed as much as you that only one person was killed. Not that I’m happy about the one, just thankful to see so many actually make it out of what couldn’t have been more of a direct hit.
If you were interested…there was more information over at bicycling.com - a wider angle where you can see the police escort turning away from the scene. Also - video of the cyclist semi-riot of the police car holding the alleged drunk driver.
I hope I never see something like this again. However, it’s a great picture to use when talking about bicycle safety.

@daveydave: One of the more recent stories I’ve seen says the death toll is at two. So sad. Thanks for the info over at Bicycling.com. I can’t believe some of the comments that are coming out over there. Some folks just have a twisted way of analyzing things.
