Back for now

I’m sure you’ve all heard the saying, “When it rains it pours.” Well, it feels like I’ve just been through a torrential downpour. It’s been a whirlwind few weeks that has seen more downs than ups. On my last post I mentioned that the company I was contracted to was undergoing big cutbacks and that my job was in jeopardy. That’s still true and is yet to be resolved. To make matters worse my dad suffered a major heart attack on 29-Oct and never regained consciousness. He passed away on 1-Nov and is now in a better place. I’ve also conducted two interviews with a potential new client in Dallas and may have to move there on short notice. I’m just waiting on the word.

I wasn’t kidding when I said it was a whirlwind. As you can imagine, I’ve had more important things to do and haven’t ridden or prepared new articles. In fact, I haven’t even thought about this blog for a couple of weeks. I will probably start riding again soon. I need it. If I end up moving to Dallas my bike will go with me so I can ride there. While I was with my mom in Oklahoma my wife found my cold weather gear so I can use it when it starts to get colder here in Jax. I know I’ll need it in Dallas.

One bright spot I’d like to point out is that Genuine Innovations is now a sponsor of Biking To Live. You can see the banner, created especially for Biking To Live, on the front page of the blog. Be sure to check them out.

I’d like to thank those that have emailed me and offered their support during these difficult times. I sincerely appreciate it.

    Oh man, So sorry to hear. Mine’s been a whirlwind as well, but with family and job relatively intact, I can’t even begin to complain. Hopefully things turn up soon.

    Very sorry to hear about your loss. Congrats on getting a sponsor!

    Wow, talk about a perfect crapstorm. I’m not the most religious guy in the world, but I believe in Karma and you are in some serious receivership status right now.

    I have lost a parent before and that was a sadness that had more power to it than anything I’ve experienced. I wish you much strentgh and hope that your luck turns around right quick.

    When you do get the chance to ride again, perhaps you will rediscover it’s healing capacity.

    Stay strong, brother.

    P.S. - Full disclosure; I chuckled when I heard “Cold weather gear” and “Jacksonville” in the same sentence.

    @Noah: I hope so too.

    @331miles: Thank you and thanks.

    @Al: Crapstorm would be about right. I need some healing right now and hope my bike can help bring me some. I know cold weather gear and Jacksonville probably don’t belong in the same sentence but it does get cold hear in Northeast Florida.

    Sorry to hear about your dad. I haven’t been through anything like this in my life yet so I can’t begin to pretend I know what you’re going through. I hope that all your wounds heal well and that the job situation works out. I look forward to reading more posts when you get through the storm.

    Bryan, I’m sorry to hear about your loss. Was there 4 years ago with my Mom. I seriously hope you get back on track and everything turns around for you soon, I know the burdens you are going through.

    Stay strong and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

    Sorry to hear about your Dad, Bryan. Hope things stabilize soon for your job.

    Cycling is good therapy.

    @Arlyn: Thanks. Things have stabilized with work. I start work in Dallas on 2-Jan and will be heading out to spend Christmas at my mothers. I just managed to square away someplace to stay in Dallas yesterday. It’s far enough north of town to afford easy access to some good rural roads for riding on which will be nice.
